Morning of Reflection for Married Couples Q&A

Curious to learn more about the upcoming Morning of Reflection for Married Couples? If you haven’t yet registered, learn a bit more from Karen Maricle, one of the leaders of the Marriage Enrichment Ministry here at Our Lady of the Lake.

How did the idea for this event come about?
The parish ministry team, after a successful Supper and Substance, wanted to offer something else with a little more depth. Regnum Christi has offered a February retreat for couples in the past several years and the two groups decided to join forces.

Why is an event like this so important?
In our world today, where traditional marriage is being challenged, we feel it’s important as a church to support and strengthen marriages.  Strengthening marriage strengthens the family which in turn strengthens society.  In St. John Paul II’s words, “As the family goes, so goes the nation and so goes the whole world in which we live.”

What does the event entail?
The event will begin with Mass.  The remainder of the event will include three dynamic speakers, a meditation given during exposition of the Eucharist and last, but definitely not least, vow renewal. There will also be an opportunity for the sacrament of reconciliation and time to spend with other Catholic couples.  The morning will end with lunch.

What can couples expect from the event?
This is an opportunity to grow as a couple, to spend some precious time together as a couple and to strengthen the bonds of marriage.  In our busy world today, we’re constantly being pulled in so many directions.  This event will afford the opportunity to nurture a marriage by calling upon the sacramental graces we received when married in the Catholic Church.

Where can couples register for the event?
Couples can register at Marriage Enrichment Ministry Event Registration.  The deadline for registration is Wednesday, February 1.  The registration fee is $60 a couple and scholarships are available so that no couple is left out.   If anyone has questions, please email
