Even though Ike passed well to our south the winds pushed a tremendous amount of water onto our church campus. Several of our buildings, including Holy Family Hall and the Strader Building, were just inches away from being flooded. By the grace of Mary Help of Christians the waters stopped rising just in time and we escaped serious damage.

We are pleased to announce that our Parish was spared from serious damage resulting from Hurricane Gustav. Many thanks to those volunteers who helped secure the church and campus before the storm as well as to those who helped clean up afterwards.

The annual mission trip for Our Lady of the Lake youth is taking place this week. This year our students will be traveling to Jamaica to rebuild schools and churches while serving the poor of that country. Students will have mass daily and opportunities for reconciliation while working on this mission trip.
For many years our students have traveled to Mexico to serve the poor but in an effort to broaden their experiences they will traveling to new countries each year if possible. Last year we spent a week in Belize and this year we will be in Jamaica.
Please pray for the safety of our youth and chaperones as well as for the well being of those they serve while in Jamaica.
